Hotel History

Built in 1928 by Franz Pfeifer, the mountain hotel Mooserkreuz is one oft he oldest hostelries here in the “cradle of Alpine skiing”.

As early as 1932 the then-innkeeper, one Paul Behrens from Berlin, had several garages installed. As you can tell from the hotel bill pictured below, there was already a demand for them in 1938.

This document also shows how international St. Anton is – we have been multilingual for over 60 years.

In 1949, Franz Josef Opitz took over the hotel and enlarged it.

Over the years, we have managed to create a blend of old and new, working with loving attention to the little details that make all the difference. All this helps create the calm, comfortable and romantic atmosphere that lends our hotel its special charm.
